At my core I have always had a deep sense that I needed to be more than just a participant in the fight to find a cure for CF. I'm a creative person and I wanted to come up with an idea that was unique and would hopefully capture people's imagination and attention. I've also wanted to take on a project "with a purpose", one larger than profit. I have always wrestled with the idea of chairing an event - a 5K run, a silent auction, etc. - and in early 2006, around the time themilliondollarhomepage.com accomplished its goal of raising $1 million, it hit me. If a 21 year-old aspiring college student could raise $1 million dollars by selling pixels as advertising space, then an aspiring generation could do it too (minus the commercialism)! And while this may not be an original idea, I hope that Mr. Tew will be honored to know that his original idea of selling pixels for profit has spawned this idea to sell pixels (in the form of a rose) for charity.
