We’ve reached an exciting milestone in the search for a cure. One of our most promising potential therapies, VX-770, is moving forward in clinical trials.
This compound has the potential to be one of the first drugs ever to treat the basic genetic defect in cystic fibrosis. VX-770 (developed by Vertex Pharmaceuticals) is already being tested in adults. This week, for the first time, Vertex initiated a clinical trial in patients aged 6 to 11. Dear Friend,
The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation recently announced a new initiative to expand the scope of adult care at Foundation-accredited care centers nationwide.
Through its Program for Adult Care Excellence (PACE), the Foundation will invest approximately $5 million to recruit and train 40 additional adult care providers and fellows. The program will help care centers keep pace with the growing demand for adult care.

Dear Friend,
We have exciting news! Last week, we announced promising results from an early Phase 2 study of VX-770, an oral compound developed in collaboration with Vertex Pharmaceuticals that targets a basic defect in cystic fibrosis.
This is the first time that any potential therapy has improved the abnormal sweat chloride (salt) levels in a person with CF.
We are very pleased with these results, but much more work remains to be done to ensure a brighter future for people with CF. Your support is crucial for us to make further progress. |
